Name: Oryan "Wight Knight" Kaishin
Race: Kai
Age: 76(Relatively young for a Kai, I'd imagine)
Sex: Male
Alignment: Good
Hair Color: Golden Blonde
Hair Style: Ear-length, untidy and unkempt.
Eye Color: Deep Purple
Skin Color: Very Pale White( Part of how he got his nickname)
Height: '5,11'
Weight: 181 lbs.
Body Appearance: Oryan looks fairly average for a Kai. His slender build is slightly offset by a medium frame, giving him a sleek athletic look while still maintaining a notable level of 'presence.' He isn't a hulking behemoth or a cut diamond. Instead Oryan has a weather-worn appearance. His skin looks wind-beaten as if he'd spent many an hour outside during a storm. He has no birth marks or scars to speak of, although he does have an interesting tattoo of a fireball/comet on the back of his left hand that extends a trail from the head of the fireball/comet up his forearm about halfway. The tattoo is emerald green in color, and fades slowly to white to blend in with his skin as the flames trail outwards from the head of the comet.
Clothes: Oryan's attire is a fairly simple one, common of the people who live on earth. A grey t-shirt with a black sleeveless vest, usually left unzipped, completes the upper half of his attire. A brown leather belt with khaki pants is the next step down. White socks with black boots cover his feet. Black fingerless gloves are worn on his hands and extend halfway up his forearms.
Ki/Energy Color: Gold Amber
Quotes: "You ready to throw down?" "Guess I'll give it a shot." "Enough of the common tongue... This conflict requires the ancient language of fisticuffs."
Story:
From his birth, Oryan was treated differently than other Kais. They were all trained in the spiritual arts and taught to be protectors of peace and justice. Oryan was shunned as if he were a bad omen because he was different. He was the first Kai to have such pale white skin in several centuries. Since such occurrences were so rare, the other kai's were unsure of what to do. Because of this, Oryan lived with his father for most of his life. His father had been the only one willing to keep him because his mother feared for the worst. Still, she refused to abandon him and asked that his father watch over him.
As time went by, Oryan learned the ways of his race. To love peace and abhor violence. To protect those who couldn't protect themselves and to punish evil. Personally, Oryan began to find a certain distaste for the dislike of violence and the love of peace. He enjoyed fighting. The adrenaline rush it gave, the challenge it presented...these things he craved. Still, he did not stray too far away from the other values that his race held dear. Protecting those who couldn't protect themselves became a key part of his life. Punishing evil was just another way for him to experience the rush of combat.
Since his early thirties, Oryan has lived on Earth as something of an undercover protector. He is a drifter, going from city to city and town to town. He usually hangs around the local martial arts dojos, boxing clubs, or even the underground brawling groups. He steps out of the shadows as an anonymous spectator when things hit the fan and sets them straight again only to fade back into oblivion. Many who know of him call him by the name "The Wight Knight" because of his white skin, the fact that he comes and goes unnoticed for the most part like a spectral entity, and the fact that he upholds several chivalrous principles that most believe to be long gone.
Even now, Oryan lies in wait on Earth for when the next threat will arise so that he can meet it head on. Big or small, he will give his best to uphold justice and the good, clean, competitive fighting spirit he's come to know and love.
Starting Location: Earth
Signature Techniques
Name: Aura Shards
Description: Oryan can manipulate his aura in a way that causes it to harden in order to defend himself from attacks. His aura will become shiny as if it were a valuable metal or a priceless gemstone. He can choose to keep it near his frame or he can extend it out at the speed of one of his punches to up to twice his arm reach in the form of a dangerous spike of ki. After the spike serves its purpose it will retract quickly into his aura to conserve energy.
Special Effects: Provides a formidable defense that can be charged if need be. Also provides attacks in the forms of painful spikes that move at the same speed as Oryan's punches and kicks as well as having the same physical force behind them, so if they strike a foe it will likely draw blood as if they were stabbed by a sword or similar weapon. It has slightly longer range than his punches and kicks. Both the offensive and defensive aspects can be activated simultaneously without a drastic increase in ki cost from using just one effect or the other.
Defects: In order to defend against stronger attacks, more energy must be spent fortifying the defensive barrier or the strength of the spikes, in the case that offense and defense are used to stop an attack at the same time. The uncharged version is usable twice in five turns with each use requiring about the same amount of energy as is required to maintain the first minor transformation. The charged version is two uses in ten turns if only one charge is gathered per use or one time in ten turns if two charges are gathered for one use in order to prevent serious strain on Oryan's stamina.
Name: Wild Sense
Description: Oryan will purposely focus on expanding his aura to cover a larger radial area around his frame. As his aura expands it will become thinner and thinner until its barely visible, similar to how a shockwave technique looks. Only the keenest of eyes could possibly hope to see it.
Special Effects:
Type 1: Oryan expands his aura and focuses it so that it will alert him to anything that enters its range. This will improve his ability to evade attacks, even ones that come from behind, above, below, or from the sides that he wouldn't normally know about. His aura even extends into the ground if he's standing on a solid surface. This isn't an auto-dodge, but it does make evasion much easier. It also helps prevent and allows him to better defend against surprise attacks.
Type 2: This technique will allow Oryan to perform a physical dodging maneuver that would normally be impossible for him, which includes reaction time, speed, and the fact that he can use this to react to things that he normally wouldn't be able to. This includes moving his body in an uncanny or odd way in order to evade an attack or reacting both much faster than he should be able as well as reacting to attacks he shouldn't be able to react to in the first place.
Defects: No matter which type is used, the technique as a whole is one use per battle. Only one type may be used.
Type 1: Requires one turn of charge per two turns this technique will be active. Requires slightly less energy to maintain each turn than the first minor transformation.
Type 2: Takes the equivalent in ki of a one charge attack.
Desperation Attack
Name: Wrath of Heaven
Description: Oryan gathers up all of his remaining energy for two turns. He will the focus it into his hands. After that, massive hands made entirely of energy will form from in the air in front of him. Each fist is roughly the size of a house. Oryan has complete control of the newly formed fists and can even use one of them to completely protect himself by taking his own body in its grasp. These fists move at 200% of Oryan's normal speed and strike with 200% the strength of his normal ki attacks. They last for three turns. Because of their speed and size, they are insanely difficult to dodge and can break multiple bones in a single hit. On the third turn, Oryan will generally finish up the attack by making an attempt to snatch his foe up and try to crush them with both of the hands before making the hands explode around them to do MASSIVE damage.
Oryan falls unconscious once this is over.
Special Notes:
Customized/Stylized Dojo Techniques
-Burning Attack-
Oryan is capable of gathering the energy needed for a burning attack in unusual ways as well as the standard way. He can gather the energy one hand at a time or both simultaneously as normal. He could also perform a barrage of punches and seemingly just 'air box' as a distraction or to hide what he's actually doing, etc.
Oryan can perform a 'half' burning attack if he only does hand motions with one hand, but it will be at half strength.
No matter what, however, he must still gather energy through making some sort of hand movement at high speeds. The same drawbacks as a regular burning attack still apply.
-Shockwave-
Along with the standard use of the Shockwave technique, Oryan can concentrate the energy a bit further into just one or two fingers and use a forceful attack on a much smaller area. If aimed properly this could strike a vital point and actually cause some damage or stun the opponent instead of knocking them back like a normal shockwave would.
Although Oryan's specialized version requires less energy than the normal shockwave, it is in a much more concentrated space, so it can actually have just as much if not more of an effect depending on where it hits.
The same drawbacks as the normal shockwave technique apply.
Also, since he's focusing slightly less energy through a MUCH smaller space, this limits the use of the concentrated version to once in five turns, otherwise the overuse penalties of the standard shockwave will be experienced to a higher degree in whatever hand he may have used the fingers of to fire it from more than once.
Custom Technique Upgrades
Name: Kai Transmission -> Lingering Step
Description: In various posts that Oryan makes he will clearly state that he has left behind a small amount of his energy in the area that he covered during that post. At a later post during the fight, he will use another fragment of his energy to link up to the energy he left behind and use the link to teleport to the place that he was at previously.
Special Effects: By making the appropriate descriptions in his posts and expending an amount of energy equivalent to a single basic energy blast to linger behind in a place where he was previously standing, later on he can spend an amount of energy equal to that of Instant Transmission to teleport instantly back to that point by linking to the energy he left behind to make a 'path' which requires less focus to teleport through than using normal Kai Transmission or even less than Instant Transmission. Leaving energy behind doesn't count towards the limited number of uses of this technique.
Defects: Two uses per battle. The energy left behind that is used to establish a teleportation pathway dissipates and is lost forever after five posts. It is incredibly difficult, in most cases, to use this technique in an offensive manner since, in keeping with the normal Kais Transmission, you have to have already been where you're teleporting to in order for it to work. If this technique is used in conjunction with charging up an attack technique, an extra post of focus/charging must be made on top of whatever the attack required in order to establish the teleportation pathway to the lingering energy.
Name: Kai Forgery -> Master Swordsmith
Description: Oryan takes his mastery of the Kai forgery technique to a higher level, however, this master is more of a specialization in swords and similar bladed weapons.
Special Effects: When creating a sword or similar bladed weapon using the Kai Forgery technique, much less energy is spent in the creation of the weapon, so higher quality and more complex weapons can be created at much lower energy costs. Instead of expending more ki to increase the complexity of the blade, Oryan can simply focus for one post to have the form better envisioned when he creates the sword so he won't have to spend extra energy changing the form of the blade once the basic structure is created.
Defects: Still requires a decent chunk of energy to create a bladed weapon.
Name: Wolf Fang Fist -> Wolf Fang Edge
Description: This is basically the same as the Wolf Fang Fist, but it is instead used with a bladed weapon to increase damage to a new level. After focusing his power for an appropriate amount of time Oryan will rush forward at speeds that far exceed his normal rate of movement. He will then deliver numerous swift and deadly slashes with his blade(s). If he spends extra time focusing, he can place energy into the blade. This will cause the blade to emit a faint Golden Amber glow like his energy color.
Special Effects: By using a bladed weapon, the damage from this technique is increased drastically. If Oryan spends an extra turn charging above the normal requirement in order to place energy into the sword, the strength and durability of the sword and the sharpness of the blade will increase even further to improve its piercing and slicing power. A blade in each hand can be used to maintain the same number of strikes that the normal Wolf Fang Fist uses. A single blade can be used with two hands for the strikes to be even more potent than wielding one in each hand.
Defects: Requires one turn charge minimum, Two turns of charging if he wants to surge energy into the blades to increase the strength of the attack that much farther. This requires a fairly large chunk of Ki, and is therefore limited to two uses per battle, regardless of whether the one charge or two charge version is used.
Dual one handed - The power of each strike isn't at its maximum like with Single two handed. Requires a bit more energy to perform than Single two handed since two blades are being infused.
Single two handed - Reduces the normal number of attacks launched by the Wolf Fang Fist to three quarters of its norm.
