"Nai!" Guru shouts, anxious and on the edge. He's beginning to tremble.
"What is it Guru?" Nai plainly responds, unemotional as usual.
"I fear... that the peace the universe is in right now is about to come to a crashing halt!" Guru's face trembles, even causing Nai to feel a little anxious.
"That's not specific..." Nai's tone of voice is a little annoyed.
"King Vegeta and the Saiyans are about to cause a catastrophic war with the Changelings!"
Nai scratches the back of his head. He asks curiously, "Well, what's the big deal? Why does that concern the rest of the universe?"
"Because other forces in the universe will get involved in such a war. This also means that the Saiyans and Changelings will expand their reaches to as much of the universe as possible."
"Which means..." Nai buts in rather plainly, "We are likely to be attacked. Not just us... but the rest of the universe too."
"I understand that this does not move you Nai, but as a warrior of the Ancient Way, you must do what is necessary to maintain the universe in its current state. Yes, rebellions and civil wars will occur on planets, but those exist to fix the matters of the planets themselves. Intergalactic wars run the risk of exterminating all life.
Remember Nai, that the Ancient Way saves those who are unlucky with dire circumstances. There are many, who in the context of intergalactic wars, can be considered unlucky with dire circumstances. As a warrior of the Ancient Way, you must move forth and do your part."
This is quite a bit of information to take for the emotionless being, Nai. Recently, he aided Earth from total destruction. However he did this because he did not want the Earth to perish; he would no longer have a place to gain strength in order to conquer the Ancient Way. But during his stay on Earth, he was able to look beyond his superficial reasoning, ultimately allowing him to conquer the Ancient Way. But this circumstance is different... He's being asked to protect that which he feels no emotional connection with. Due to his purely evil ancestry, and the just, moral ideals of the Namekian race, he has lost all sense of feeling and found a perfect balance in between. It is easy for life to protect that which it cares about... but unfortunately, Nai is rather incapable of forming the essential emotional connections with life, so how can he really be motivated to protect it?
Fortunate for Nai, he is not naive, and he realizes all of this. His only option is to follow his leader's wishes and discover his answers along the journey.
A day has passed.
Guru's voice speaks again, yet again with an anxious, 'this is very important' voice,
"Nai, it is time. I need you to go to Icer. There, a Saiyan will arrive. I believe he is going to attack the heart of the Changeling planet. I need you to expose him to them the best you can. This happens all the time, so it is nothing for the Changelings. But this Saiyan will succeed, and it will be the trigger for all out war. Under
any cost, we must not allow this to happen. You must blow his cover while keeping yours!"
"This is a very daunting task Guru," Nai states. "I assume you're assigning it to me because I am the only Namekian capable of doing this."
"Yes," Guru nods, "but it has nothing to do with your power. It is because I can count on you to keep your cool, whereas I can not with an ordinary Namekian. You will be in so much pressure that if anyone else took your place, they would lose control of themselves."
Surprisingly, Guru's plan has a terrible flaw. Yes, there is something that not even the great Guru can foresee. And by the time he foresees it, it will be too late.
Nai immediately went to Icer, landing in a wilderness. He immediately dashed over towards the changeling palace,
making it there before the Saiyan. But this Saiyan ki was rather weak... perhaps just another ordinary elite Vegeta sent? Nai then senses another Saiyan ki, which is too familiar to him. His only chance now is to abort the mission...
But it was too late. Smelling a foul scent in the air Nai hears, an alien, raspy, harsh, overconfidence voice behind
him, "Going somewhere, Namekian? Has King Vegeta allied with you?"
Nai grits his teeth. His cover has just been blown. But perhaps he can sweet talk his way out of it, "There's a Saiyan power level nearby... I've come to exterminate it. I hate Saiyans... they came to Namek and tortured my people. I want revenge!" Nai utters, actually sounding angry. "I pursued this particular one to
here. He's responsible for the damage. That damn Super Saiyan!"
"S-super Saiyan!?" the two changelings standing now in front of Nai look at each other. They immediately flee when, "AAAHHHHH!!!!" one of the changelings screams as he's incinerated. Nai looks over where he thinks the attack came from, and it's three tall Saiyans.
"So you wanna kill us eh...? We knew someone was pursuing Cajabe. You won't interfere!" the middle Saiyan laughs, forming a ball of ki in his right hand, holding it by his face.
"Wait... That Saiyan is CAJABE!?" Nai's worst fears have come true... He's on good terms with Cajabe. He's not interested in making him one of his enemies.
And that's where Guru's plan went wrong. Little did he know, the Saiyan who was really doing the attacking was Cajabe. Cajabe and Nai met on Earth, and even had a sparring match later. They were on very friendly terms with one another. If Cajabe failed and noticed Nai, he would actually know it was Nai and not some other Namekian and immediately report this to the King, which would mean that the Namekians would have to deal with a bunch of pissed off monkeys. Not only that... Nai himself would be wanted dead by the Saiyan race. Not good. His next encounter with Cajabe would not be a very rewarding one.
As the Saiyan is about to throw the ball of ki at Nai, the sounding of a wall breaking echos through the air, and three changelings are seen flying right into the scene. Within the next moment, bright red lasers fly from underneath them and incinerate them to dust. The Saiyans look at Nai, awe struck at how easily he destroyed the changelings. Nai then fired finger rays at the three Saiyans, killing all but one, but Nai was too focused on the future to realize this.
"K-King V-vegeta!" The Saiyan speaks into his scouter. "There's a Namekian... and he's trying to get in our way!"
Before the King can respond via scouter communication, the Saiyan dies, having used up the last bit of his life.
Nai would then manage to sneak around Cajabe and launch a surprise shockwave at him in the heat of battle, almost getting him killed, but his overall prowess as a warrior saved him from getting killed right then and there. By the time he would look back to see who attacked him, it was too late. Nai had already dashed away at full speed. But just when Nai was about to succeed, he gets kicked high up in the air.
There goes my cover...
Nai would mercilessly destroy the changelings in front of him, doing his classic routine of impaling his arms through his opponents. However, now Nai was completely exposed to the Changelings as well. He destroys them easily and continues his retreat.
But King Vegeta had already immediately sent some powerful elites, and the arrived already! But Nai mercilessly destroyed them just as easily as the changelings, making it seem like he was also an enemy of the Saiyans. He was then able to escape... but he was seen by his acquaintance, Cajabe. Had Cajabe just been some other Saiyan, Nai could've been left off the hook.
He reported back to Guru, and Guru fully apologized to him for putting him in such a terrible situation.
"Nai, I have learned to trust myself because as Guru, I have extra foresight that other living beings do not possess... But I do not know why I was not able to foresee this. Nai, I am afraid our destruction may be imminent now."
"Well, we'll just have to see." Nai seems unexcited, but not worried at the same time... emotionless as usual.
When King Vegeta and King Icer met at King Vegeta's palace, Nai was discussed. Cajabe butted in, mentioning that Nai was an unusual Namekian, and not quite as pure hearted and as peaceful as the others. Cajabe would then speak of Nai's great fighting prowess... and seeing as how he defeated powerful Saiyan elites and Changelings easily, Vegeta and Icer at least agreed that Nai needed to die. Thus, a reward was placed on Nai's head. No one knows what, but both kings have agreed to very handsomely reward whoever brought his head. And thus, all Changelings and Saiyans know of the eccentric Namekian, Nai.
There's no doubt that Saiyans and Changelings will soon come to Namek and try to beat the information out of Nai's whereabouts out of the poor Namekians. So for the time being, Nai has decided to stay on Namek.
He did his best to train Shen, the Saiyan that could not become a Super Saiyan, and Ava, a potent ex-human that traveled with him to Namek. It was only a matter of time before Namek would be under attack. Nai had a plan however... but it would mean he could no longer be Guru's bodyguard.
Guru then advised Nai to go to Yardrat and learn the art of Universal Transmission as soon as possible. As Nai leaves, his friend Ava catches up to him, wanting to learn Universal Transmission as well. On the way, Nai decides he'll inform Ava of his plan to stay on the move from Vegeta and Chiller, unaware Guru told her this already. But he won't be able to hide forever... is his death imminent? Find out this saga...
