After finishing his top notch and intense battle with his new friend Tyson, Oryan decides to stay at the Lookout on Earth and train. Occasionally he would pay Master Korin a visit during his training sessions so that he could pick up a Senzu Bean in exchange for Master Korin's favorite, the Red Snapper. This would allow him to train repeatedly and for extended periods. He started off his training with Mr. Popo.
At first it was nearly impossible to even land a hit on the ancient being. Oryan grew frustrated time and time again because even when he went all out, Mr. Popo's fluid and efficient movements kept him from landing a single blow. To top it all off, Mr. Pope didn't even break a sweat by the time Oryan was absolutely and utterly exhausted. Good thing he visited Korin's Tower frequently and picked up those Senzu Beans, because there was no doubt in his mind that they were a necessity.
Day after day Oryan sparred with Mr. Pope, occasionally getting healed by Noru when he pushed himself too hard and dislocated a joint or tore a muscle. It was possibly the most painful training he'd been through. In time, though, Oryan slowly became more efficient with his own movements. Although it wasn't anywhere near the level of efficiency that Mr. Popo had achieved, Oryan was still able to conserve his stamina even further. This made each of those senzu beans last that much longer as well.
This would be Oryan's routine for nearly a month. That is until Xero and Tyson both returned to the lookout. For the next two months, these three would spar and train with one another on a very strict training Regime set up by Mr. Popo himself. Since there were three of them, Korin couldn't spare as many beans per person, but needless to say the old cat put on a bit of extra weight from all those Red Snappers. Day in and day out, two three way battles each day for those two months. Each of the three fought on a level they didn't think they could ever have reached. They all three had more wins, losses, and draws amongst them than any of the three could count or even remember for that matter.
During the beginning of the next month after Xero and Tyson had both left the Lookout for the most part, Noru received a message from the Elder Kai that was intended for Oryan. Respectfully, Noru relayed the message to the young Kai as he was asked to do.
Greetings, Oryan. I'm contacting you because I have an opportunity that you might find intriguing. Despite numerous warnings from a council of other Kais, I have decided to offer to train you. I know you're not on the best of terms with most of the others here on our home planet, but I've been watching your actions on Earth and I think you are ready for my level of training. I'll be sending someone to pick you up in exactly two days. You have that long to make your decision. If you decide against coming back to our home world, I won't hold it against you.
With the answer to this annoying, yet opportune question weighing on his mind, Oryan couldn't focus on his continued training with Mr. Popo or his self meditation either. The two days passed by with Oryan doing little more than helping Mr. Popo and Noru check up on things around Planet Earth, sort of like a messenger or delivery boy. Finally the two days ended and a rather tall, lanky Kai with bright blue skin, white hair, and green eyes appeared out of nowhere at the edge of the Lookout. He was greeted by the very person he'd come to see. "I'm ready to go with you. I'm ready to go back home," Oryan says before the other Kai can even ask any questions. As the two shake hands and begin to greet one another, they disappear, having teleported to the Planet of the Kais.
Upon arrival, Oryan was met with many loud and forceful screams from several other Kais. Almost immediately one stepped out from the group and the others fell silent. This particular Kai was incredibly old. Oryan knew who it was, although they hadn't met before. "Come with me, Oryan. We'll leave the rest of this lot to their own doings. You and I have things to discus," The Elder kai said as he put his arm around Oryan's shoulder and began to walk with him through the Gardens of the Kais.
"Now, Oryan, I noticed you've taken a strange liking to Planet Earth. I've even watched you make a few friends there recently. Most of them share the same goal you do. Long has it been since a Kai dared to join forces with a group of people not from his own planet. Especially people who weren't other Kais. You're open mindedness is just the kind of thing we need. The other council members all worry too much that the rest of the universe will begin to rely on us if we save them too often. Most times that I've seen, things get out of hand even for us before we decide to take any action. I'm going to count on you to be our hand in the universe. You have the strength, I can sense it. That's why I want to train you," The old kai said as they walked along through the gardens.
Oryan takes a moment to think about the Elder's proposal. He was already here and he'd already put up with surely what would be a small taste of what would come about if he stayed. Still, to have such faith placed in him by the eldest of the living Kais...that alone was a huge honor. "Very well, Elder. I will stay and undergo your training," Oryan finally replies, albeit very reluctantly.
Before Oryan could even think of heading into the dojo of his home planet, the Elder made him do a two step training regime. He could only reach the second step by completing the first. Initially Oryan was to take his entire energy reserve, as in all the energy he had in his body when he was at full stamina, and focus it into one point on his body. Not only would this require unreal amounts of concentration and energy manipulation, but it would also strain his endurance to a limit he thought not possible. He would be forced to do this twice a day until he was able to control that energy. Several times it exploded in his face or he lost control of it and it ended up destroying someone's house...or even multiple houses in one case. He had to help rebuild all of those houses by hand as punishment.
When he was finally able to control all of his power, The elder agreed to take him to step two. Oryan was given fair warning that death was a possibility at this stage and that he was not to take it lightly, even in the beginning when it would be at a lower difficulty. It nearly blew Oryan's mind when the training began. The Elder only pointed up with a sly grin and then disappeared. When Oryan looked up, he found thousands upon thousands of person-sized Katch-in spikes were falling from the sky. In his head Oryan heard the voice of the Elder Kai say, "Dodge." And you can guess what happened next. That's right. All of those deadly, heavy, nearly unbreakable metal spikes came crashing down. Oryan zoomed around at speeds that boggled even his own mind. Dodging them all would take nearly all the energy he had. After Image again and again. Each time he felt the strain on his endurance again and again. Each time he felt himself getting a little bit slower due to exhaustion. Just a little over halfway through the volley, he collapsed.
Right before two of the spikes impaled Oryan, the Elder halted them all with an incredible level of Telekinetic power. He moved them over to a large open area and let them fall. "Not bad, Oryan. Most of my students don't make it past the one quarter mark. Still, you're a long way from perfect. Don't worry. We have a lot of time to get this right. Hehehehehoo!" The old kai finished with a chuckle as he helped Oryan to his feet and gave him a drink of water.
This level of the training would be much more difficult to master as the difficulty could be increased drastically. Due to this, Oryan's training in this manner continued on for the remainder of the year. In Oryan's mind, that was the longest, most difficult and grueling year of his life. With the insanity of Elder Kai's training and the fact that he was pretty much insulted and persecuted on a daily basis by his fellow Kais made it nearly unbearable. Still, somehow he managed....
There was one thing that changed during that hard year of training for Oryan. Slowly, almost like a shining beacon of hope, those who previously tore him down and insulted him came to respect him. Sometimes a crowd would gather to watch him train with the Elder. Once another Kai thought he'd be a show off and prove that Oryan was nothing but a joke by outdoing him. Long story short, Oryan ended up saving him twice from being impaled and/or squashed by one of the spikes.
With new found respect coming his way and his training progressing more swiftly than before, Oryan looked into the coming days with great expectations.
