The Spirit Ball attack has a variety of uses. Since the Spirit Ball does not explode on impact and is so easily controlled, it makes a very useful attack for keeping people away. It is effectively a long range punch.

I suppose that's a decent enough attack. Issilude thought as he read the description. He then went on to read how this was accomplished.

Step One: Gather ki into one hand. The technique requires a large amount, so you may need to charge for a few moments. Issilude did as the book told, forming a ball of ki in his right hand.

Step Two: Form the ki into a sphere. Since this can be difficult for rookie fighters, here are some tips to help... Issilude skipped the next several lines, since he was more than capable of forming a simple ball.

Step Three: Fire the ki ball like you would any other, but do not loosen your control over the ki. This is difficult for new fighters, and so generally requires a great deal of practice. We suggest that you practice this step several times by stopping the ki ball mid flight.

Issilude frowned. 'Do not loosen your control over the ki'? What do they mean by that? He thought, staring at the book.

After thinking a minute Issilude shrugged and pointed his arm away from him. He released the ki, keeping his focus on it, then tried to stop it from moving any further. He failed, of course, since he didn't have much idea what they were talking about.

Issilude formed another ball, and again fired it away. Again, he failed to stop the ki from moving. This is harder than it sounds, and it sounds hard to begin with.

It took Issilude half an hour to figure out what they were talking about in the book. Once he realized that, it was easy for him to stop the ki from moving. Now, what's step four?

11.
Step Four: Using the index and middle finger of the firing hand, point in the direction you want the sphere to go. Then, focus on the sphere and will it to move in that direction you want. Again, this is very challenging, so practice is important.

Well of course practice is important. Issilude thought as he read that line. The whole point of the technique is to use the ki ball like an extra limb, isn't it? With all the same control and the like?

Issilude closed his eyes and focused on the ki orb. He took his right hand and made it a fist, with only the first two fingers sticking up. He pointed those two fingers to his left, at the same time willing the ki to move in that direction.

The ki moved to his left alright, but he couldn't keep his focus and lost control of it. The ki ball smashed into one of the bookshelves, knocking it over with a small hole in the front.

Issilude and a couple other trainers picked up the bookself and books, only two of which were actually damaged. When he offered to help fix it he was told by a more experienced fighter not to worry. Since they were in a dojo, accidents like this were common and generally ignored.

With the bookshelf back in place, Issilude went back to work on his new technique. Well, looks like I have to do a bit more work on control. He thought as he formed another ki ball.

Issilude's ki ball dissipates as he recieves Bibidi and Babidi's message. As instructed he closes his eyes, and in an instant sees the entirety of the battle. He sees Cajabe's fight against the Changelings, his fusion with Couric, and Cajic's battle so far against Onslaught.

The fight was entertaining an all, but it was the broadcast itself that caught Issilude's attention. This spell, is everyone getting this? No, they only said the people of significant power.

But still, for someone, even two people, to be able to send a message like this... They must be incredibly skilled mages. Maybe even better than Uncle Doliver

I have to meet them. Maybe they can help me grow stronger. Yes, of course they will. They sent their ally off to stop The leader of the Changelings, didn't they?

But how do I find them? I mean, I can sense them, sure, but they're ki is so far away, farther than Namek is, even. How am I supposed to get there?

Issilude shook his head. I can think of that later. For now, I have to finish learning this technique.

Issilude formed the ball again and tried to control it. Now that he knew not to will it's motions quite so hard, he found that controlling the ki wasn't as hard as he thought. Well, looks like I've got that one down.

He sighed, after all the fighting was over. Deciding he should try to entertain himself for the moment, he attempted to count how many students were in the dojo.

Now, what else is here that could be helpful? Issilude thought, once more looking through the books. A bright flash distracted him however, forcing him to close his eyes.

"Aw crap! someone used Solar Flare in the dojo again!" Issilude heard one person complain.
"Didn't he read the sign? No Solar Flares in the building."

Solar Flare, huh? Issilude thinks, opening his eyes and finding that he still couldn't see anything. That might be useful.

After a moment he's able to open his eyes again. He searches through the books looking for one that taught Solar Flare, only to find that there was only one left, and it was covered in blood. Okay, not touching that.

He looked around the dojo, trying to see if there was anyone around able to teach him the technique. He saw a group of fighters gathered around one guy, yelling at him. Maybe that's the guy who used the attack?

Issilude walked over, waiting until the crowd had died away to approach the fighter. "Great, now the rookies are gonna yell at me, huh? I already told the others, I couldn't see the sign! I'm blind!"

10.
Issilude tilted his head. "If you're blind, then how did you know I was walking over? or that I was a rookie?"
"I could hear your footsteps. They were getting louder so I knew you were coming in my direction, and they're too light for one of the experts, so you're either ridiculously young or really, really small."
