However, as Shiro continued to fight off the crazy birds, he realized that their numbers weren't thinning. Infact, there seemed to be more birds each time he killed one! What the heck!? Are these birds using split form or something!?

Soon Shiro realized that his attacks weren't actually killing the chickens. Instead, whenever he thought one was dead, it simply split in two and continued clucking. They're like freaking ameobas!

Suddenly, Shiro stopped fighting, as he felt a massive power appear. Right where Cajabe and Couric had been only the moment before. But, this power's too strong to be either of them. What in the world...?

"Knock it off already, you crazy birds!" Shiro and the 'crazy birds' turned to see one very old, very sickly looking hen walking up towards them. "Leave the busy man alone and bug one of the dogs if you're so desperate!"

Shiro watched as the birds slowly walked away, then turned back to the hen who had spoken. "Uh, thanks."
"No problem, sweetie. And please, for give them. They can't help it, I'm afraid, it's how they reproduce, you know."

So does that mean... Shiro stopped his train of thought there. "Uh, right. Uh, listen I have to."
"That's right, you said you were looking for something, didn't you? Well, what is it, sweetie? I'll help the best I can."

Is she really the same as those other chickens? Shiro thought, surprised by how the bird was acting. "Oh, well it's an orange crystal ball, with black stars in it. Have you seen one?"
"Yep, I was just polishing it a second ago."

"Do you think I can have it?" Shiro asked. Whew, so there really is one here after all.
"Nope."

Shiro's excitement died after that first syllable. "No? Why not?"
"That little gem's what gave me my sanity. Without it, I'll be as mad as the other birds by sunset, you mark my words."

So one race thinks these things bring good luck, and another thinks it makes you sane. What's next, it houses the soul of a god? "Listen, miss chicken-"
"Delila"

Shiro nodded. "Miss Delila, I really need that ball. If I don't bring it and the others like it back home in two weeks, my planet and everything on it will blow up."
"Well that's a shame, sweetie, but I'm not giving you the one thing that's keeping me sane."

Shiro rubbed the bridge of his nose. Come on, Shiro, think of something. He grinned as an idea came to him. "How about I offer you a trade. You give me your dragon ball, and I'll teach you how to stay sane." When Delila paused for a moment in thought, Shiro added, "You can even teach it to the other chickens to make them sane, too."
That settled it. "Deal!"

The hen went into one of the crudely made shacks and came out rolling the dragon ball. Shiro picked it up and placed it in his pocket as he spoke. "All you have to do to be sane is ignore the little voices in your head."
The chicken tilted her head, and Shiro was worried that that wasn't the kind of insanity she was suffering from, until she said, "But I LIKE the voices in my head. They're so much fun to talk to."

After spending a few minutes to explain to Delila that the voices were not real people and that listening to them really did make you insane, Shiro returned to the ship. He kept the dragon ball in his pocket, since he didn't know where Gozu kept the other two, and started the ship. He took off, leaving the chicken planet behind. Thank goodness that's over with.
