This will be for Kumori's TS story as well as LV's since Nova decided to go on an indefinite hiatus.
Lethenir Vanether
Lethenir soon left the Island of the Turtle Hermit that was now on Namek and went into the refugee villages for Earthlings. He didn't really help the refugees, but he didn't harm them either. He merely watched. As he sat upon a cliff, watching the largest of the villages in the distance, he was approached from behind by a tall Namekian with much darker green skin than the others.
"Why is it that you watch them? You are one of them, are you not? Should you not be down there with your family, helping them through this time of strife?" This was the question that the Namekian, Lute, had presented to Lethenir upon seeing him on the cliff. At first Lethenir had no reply for him. He wanted to explain that he wasn't like them, that he wasn't flesh and blood, but he didn't want to upset or anger this being. The Namekians were a peaceful people overall, and Lethenir didn't want to disrupt that peace. He wanted the humans to leave Namek as soon as possible. He planned to himself as well, when the opportunity permitted itself.
"I do not have a family, Namekian. I am alone save for one person who seems to know something I don't. Unless she suddenly arrives, I won't be joining the humans. Sorry. I have my reasons."
As Lethenir replied, he leaped off of the cliff and into the water below. He then began swimming towards a small, vacant island even further away from the villages than the cliff had been.
A few days later, Lute returned to him with the news that Earth had been restored and the Earthlings were being returned home. Lethenir nodded and replied, "I will go back with them. I don't want them to disrupt this planet's peace anymore. I don't want to do so myself, so I will go. Goodbye, Namekian."
When Lethenir arrived on Earth he immediately went to the military installation that he was created in. He threatened to destroy the entire base if the ones who created him did not speak with him. Unfortunately he was informed of two problems with his plan. First, neither of the two scientists who created his body were still at this base. They had been moved to an ocean base. Second, the base itself was being shut down for security reasons. After beating some information out of them, Lethenir knew where he now needed to go.
A small base near South City, designed specifically for the kind of work that created Lethenir, was where the Scientists had moved to. Lethenir didn't want others like himself. Others who would be lied to and who would have to exist knowing that they were only tools. Since they had created him, in exchange for no more 'tools', he would have to convince them to use only him.
When he arrived, the Scientists were quick to speak with him as they were happy to see their creation returned. Their negotiations were fierce. However, a settlement of sorts was reached. In exchange for any needed maintenance and whatever upgrades they could create for him as well as not creating any more androids like him, Lethenir would do tasks that they requested as well as upload any combat data he had in his memory.
Both sides were reluctant to agree, but they did. The scientists' motives were somewhat unclear to Lethenir, but it was clear to them that he was suffering. They weren't heartless, and since they thought it could give him purpose, they agreed to his primary condition.
Then began the rigorous tests. Top possible land speed, top possible aquatic speed, top possible force output, calculative and capability and speed, precision of movement and reaction time, etc. The list of challenges went on and on. Unfortunately for Lethenir, however, they weren't over. After the individual tests were complete, he was then tested repeatedly against the finest soldiers and military technology that was available. Each time he completed a task, the data was transferred to the scientists' computer mainframe. All the tests combined took over two years to complete and compile all the data, which Lethenir was also forced to aid in doing. Due to his highly advanced processor, he could easily combine all the data and turn it into the appropriate figures into what the scientists needed just as fast as their computer mainframe could.
When the tests finally concluded, the scientists were both very pleased. "For now, you're done working for us. Take this, though, as we will reach you on it if we need you. During your away time, we'll be creating a surprise for you." Lethenir wasn't sure what to do with the time they'd given him. Somehow, it seemed to him that things had worked out far too easily. They had agreed to everything he wanted even though it meant their work was basically finished no matter what. That made Lethenir uneasy.
Things never seemed to slow down for him. It was almost maddening. Still, he didn't forget his promise to a certain woman. Although he had given the data from all those tests to his creators, he'd kept a copy for himself. He decided that, in order to fully understand the data he'd gathered, it would take a long period of compilation, comparison, and processing. That in mind, he put his main drive into standby mode while his secondary drive and his memory began to do just that, examine and organize the data.
Since such a large amount of data had been gathered and it was his secondary drive that was doing the work, it would take nearly all of the remaining year. As the completion of his work draws near, a call on the cell phone that the scientists had given him so long ago. His secondary drive pauses momentarily and his main drive activates. As he awakens to answer their call, a new task is about to begin.....
Kumori Seishou
NOTE: Since I haven't had time to recruit Kumori as a minion with Oryan IC yet, I'll re-write his entry during the TS, although it will be similar there will be notable changes.
Kumori was one of the few unfortunate people who were not in the main cities or at any particular place of interest. In fact, the entire monastery that he was living at, along with everyone in it, was destroyed when Earth blew up. When he awoke at the end of the line of spirits at King Yemma's office he was in total dismay. He couldn't locate any of his "elders" or "brothers" and he wasn't sure if he was dreaming now or if what happened before he arrived here was a dream.
Still, he tried to keep his cool and find out why everyone was waiting in line. It was very difficult to get a straight answer from a spirit cloud, though. Finally, after what seemed like hours, the line came to its end and Kumori stepped up to the massive desk of King Yemma.
"Excuse me, sir. Why was everyone waiting in line?" Kumori asked rather half-heartedly. He knew it was stupid of him to wait in line and then ask why he waited. Still, he had to know.
"I'm afraid that you, along with many others from Earth, were killed when it exploded. You're now in the afterlife. You, Kumori, exhibit a good heart and a strong, pure, spirit. For that, you can keep your physical form here. I warn you, while in the afterlife you should tread lightly and carefully. One wrong step and you'll end up on Hades or in Hell." King Yemma warned the young man before nudging him through the door to the path to Heaven.
Although the time he spent in the afterlife was short, it was enough time for Kumori to get in way over his head. While wandering around Heaven he bumped into a short being shrouded in a rough looking brown cloak with his face hidden. For Kumori's apparent rudeness, the cloaked man opened a portal on the ground where Kumori stood and he fell through the portal into Hell.
He fell right into the domain of none other than a Kitsune Youkai. A very powerful one, too. She had thirteen tails. That was four more than any of the stories that Kumori had heard of them. Her power was so great that he couldn't resist. She merely uttered the words and he did as he was told. Despite every good fiber of his body and soul, he couldn't resist. As expected, she was after power, and in order to obtain that power she had to take the souls of strong men. Kumori fit the bill with his monk training and unusually strong will. She seduced him and had her way. Unfortunately for the Youkai queen, however, things wouldn't go as she expected. As she tried to consume his spirit with her demonic magic, Kumori was instead converted by it. His spirit shifted painfully, turning him into a red Kitsune. The Youkai that had done this to him was in awe. Never had a man survived her charm, let alone become a Kitsune like her. Although she was a white Kitsune while he was red and she had thirteen tails while he had one, she could no longer control him.
When he awoke from the transformation, Kumori felt disgraced and afraid. The Youkai wouldn't give up so easily, though. This was an opportunity for her to spread her influence. "I will restore you to your normal form. You, however, must find my thirteen daughters and perform one task of their choice. Whatever one deed they request you do you must fulfill it no matter what. Only then will I restore you."
Of course that bitch was lying, but poor Kumori was too naive and too shocked to decline. He was dead right now, that much the Youkai understood. She needed him to be alive for him to be of use, so she cast a spell on him to put him to sleep so he wouldn't wander off while she waited.
Surprisingly soon after she used her sleep curse on the new demonified Kumori, his halo disappeared and he had regained a solid form of being again. She dispelled her curse and immediately sent him on his search. Her power had kept him in Hell even though he was alive again. She explained that her daughters had died much like him when Earth exploded. They were all on Earth somewhere, and he would need to seek them out.
She used her power to create a portal and sent him to Earth. Even though she couldn't control him with demon magic now, she could still manipulate him by using his fear and naivety against him.
Kumori was running low on a lot of things. Luck and sustenance were the two most prominent. He had no clue where to look for these thirteen Youkai daughters and absolutely no money, food, or transportation. Basically, he was doomed. Or at least he thought he was until he figured something out. Since he now shared a connection with the Youkai energy, he could feel the presence of other Youkai energy nearby.
My daughters range in age from one thousand two hundred and one to thirty two years old. Naturally each one will be their own person, so I'm sure they can all come up with many deviant and mischievous deeds for you to accomplish to regain your humanity. A voice in his mind called out these words to him. He immediately recognized that silky smooth and fiendish voice to be that of the Queen Youkai. Still, this bit of information made things very interesting for him. If she had a daughter that was over a thousand years old, she must have been over two thousand herself. As if Kumori couldn't feel any worse, he'd been changed into a Kitsune by an old woman. That just didn't sit well with him.
At least now Kumori had some direction to go in. He meditated for a day to feel for the strongest Youkai energy he could find and set out for it. This one was deep in the forest that lay in between East City and North City. Although a man made road cut through the northwestern most tip of the forest, the rest was the domain of the oldest of the daughters. Her age was also the reason for her power. In the time she'd been alive, she'd had much more time to absorb the souls of strong mortals. That made her own power that much greater.
"I'm not interested in my mother's little games. Destroy a village and bring its youngest maiden to me. After that, I will tell my mother that you completed my part of her scheme. Simple enough, no?"
The truth was, Kumori didn't think he had it in him to decimate a village and kidnap a young woman like that. He felt defeated. It was against everything he stood for to do this. Although he doubted they would accept him, he returned to his Monastery.
He would not sacrifice countless other lives to return his own soul to normal. Even if the corrupt powers of the Kitsune demon magic consumed him and damned him to hell, he would not force others to their doom as well.
When he arrived the monks attacked in force. They used every method of ancient sealing and containment necessary to turn Kumori to a stone statue. He was still very much alive, but as a stone statue he could not move or harm anyone. They had mistaken him for a true red Kitsune and attacked unknowing that he was actually their friend and youngest student.
One day, a being with strong presence, pointy ears, and pale white skin appeared at the monastery. He requested that the head monks allow him to free the being trapped in stone. He spoke to them of the pure heart that still clung to life underneath they tainted shadows that the demon magic had created. He could sense it, or so he said.
The monks could sense that the power of this being was far greater than the Kitsune they'd sealed away and so they agreed.
The stone cracked away to reveal an overjoyed Kumori.
"I am Oryan Kaishin. I have convinced the monks to free you from your stone prison. Although your body and spirit are tainted by demonic power, I can sense that your heart is still pure. What is your name?" Oryan questions the strange looking human.
"I am Kumori Seishou, Sir Kaishin. I'm sorry for frightening you all. I'm afraid that terrible things have happened to me." Kumori bows to all the monks that were gathered around. Many of them look on in disbelief. Others begin to speak sacred prayers. Even more ask for Kumori's forgiveness because they didn't know.
"Do not worry. So long as your heart is pure, your power is not evil like the others. You can use the power you have been given to protect the Earth as I do. Earth is no longer the only planet I protect, so I will need someone like you to watch over it. This is all I ask in exchange for me freeing you." Was Oryan's final reply before he disappeared from the Monastery just as quickly as he'd arrived.
And with that began the next chapter of Kumori Seishou's life.
