It wasn’t long after Couric had finished achieving the full strength of his new transformation that the teen finally realized two facts that should have been incredibly obvious from the beginning; he was alive and that his destroyed eye had somehow been perfectly healed thanks to his revival. After a facepalm or two and a bit more training near Goku’s dojo, the saiyan soon decided to travel back to the realm of the living to meet up with Gozu and Julia on Namek and find out just what was going on.
Needless to say, it wasn’t long before he found himself aiding in the effort to return those of the human race, who actually wanted to, back to their recently revived home. And surprisingly, it didn’t take as long as he expected, considering how many humans had actually gotten off Earth with the aid of certain other heroes. But needless to say, thanks to the whole damn ordeal, Couric got to see the planet he considered his home, even if it was only for short periods of time.
He was just glad that it was no longer chunks of rock that were spread throughout the universe by the explosion caused by the Black Star Dragonballs usage. And it wasn’t long after that that the gang would head back to the planet that they had found as a result of a certain suggestion that Julia had made quite a while ago. And it was there that Gozu made him aware of a certain thing that had occurred while they were on Namek..
That, of course, being the fact that Julia’s programming had managed to gain consciousness and control of the android’s body for a short period of time. When Gozu mentioned his worries about Katatonia possibly accessing all of her power, whether that be a bluff or not, Couric didn’t seem all that bothered by that possibility. The fact that Julia could possibly be controlled by this programming was what bothered Couric more than anything else…So he promised that he’d try and help Julia overcome it alongside Gozu. It didn’t seem like it’d be all that hard…right?
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. As much as they tried, Katatonia would manage to gain control and could manage to keep control for quite a while before leaving a rather worn out Julia in her place. Couric and Gozu were there to keep an eye on her, so it wouldn’t be all that hard a task considering how strong both saiyans were, right? But of course, things that seem easy are usually anything but. And there was actually one occasion where Katatonia nearly slipped out of the house thanks to the fact that Couric had fallen asleep…but, thankfully, there were two of them. So there weren’t that many slip ups…
But there came a few times where Couric managed to lose control of himself while Katatonia was conscious…So Julia’s programming and the psychotic other side of the young saiyan met. Instead of joining together to cause absolutely chaos throughout the planet, the two ‘schizo alter-egos’ wound up arguing near constantly when they were both conscious at the same time. Sure, they’d rarely interact civilly, but most of the time, they’d bicker.
Unfortunately, Gozu and Couric couldn’t quite manage to keep Katatonia from gaining control when Julia raised her power, so they sorta gave up for the moment. A year had passed, after all.
Anyways, it was about then that Couric decided to head off to Vegeta for a bit of training, assuring Julia that he’d be back as quickly as he could manage while Gozu had run off on his own as well.
But of course, things don’t always go as one plans. And it wasn’t long after Couric landed that he came face-to-face with a familiar presence; his sister, naturally. And that was how Couric got dragged back into working for a certain King of Saiyans, the bet Cajic had made returning to bite him right in the ass. He found himself having to follow Kea’s orders as a result of that binding vocal contract for the time being, nowhere near strong enough to possibly force his way out of that one. So he found himself staying on Vegeta for quite a while, going on some missions, wearing the good ol’ saiyan armor that he disliked, and doing some decent training.
As luck would have it, Couric actually managed to not run into Cajabe at all during his time on Vegeta. But this meant that he also hadn’t met his niece just yet…
And between missions he was dragged off on, Julia would sometimes show up to check on him. When she learned just why Couric hadn’t come back as quickly as he said he would, she immediately worried that a certain event would repeat itself and Couric would actually wind up being hurt or worse by Cajabe. Thankfully, he somehow managed to ease her fears for the moment, though it wasn’t permanent. And so the cycle began…the two would meet and Couric would find himself being dragged off early each and every time.
But one day, Couric would find Julia waiting for him when he stepped out of the rejuvenation chamber…and it wasn’t long after that that Gozu showed up. But for some odd reason, the Goku look-alike was in what Couric could only assume was his Super Saiyan 2 state…
